Survey Crew Chief (Edmond, OK)

We are seeking a Crew Chief to join our growing family to assist our Survey team.

The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years’ experience in land surveying. This includes highway/DOT Surveys, bridges. Site surveys: including Boundary and ALTA, topographic, aerial ground control, construction layout, utility, and horizontal/vertical control surveys.
  • Proficient with data collectors and data collection techniques, conventional field notes and sketches, total stations, leveling, and in reporting accurate survey information resulting from the field work.
  • Proficient in the use of GPS devices, total stations, conventional and digital levels, surveying calculations, i.e., cogo, Microsoft office, survey, and drafting technologies, i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation/OpenRoads, preparation and presentation of survey drawings, GPS post processing error analysis and correction.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Trimble Survey Equipment and software.
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment.
  • Ability to work long hours outdoors under various field conditions (heat and cold) and exposure to traffic.
  • Ability to travel out of town for projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of computer aided drafting.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and instruments of land surveying; knowledge of basic civil engineering principles, practices, and construction procedure.
  • Clean background. A thorough background check will be conducted on all final candidates in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Trimble Survey Equipment and software.
  • Demonstrated experience in DOT, ALTA, Boundary, and Topographic Site Surveys.
  • Ability to calculate boundaries and construction layout.
    • The ability to resolve boundaries in the field is a plus.
    • The ability to calculate points for construction layout from pdf and CAD drawings for use in layout on new construction sites.
  • Basic Land Survey Law knowledge application for various applications.
  • Continuing education in Land Survey or active schooling to gain Degree in Land Surveying with intent to gain Professional Survey Licensure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides leadership for the field crew in performing surveys in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure actual hours do not exceed the planned hours.
  • Communicates to have a thorough understanding of the day’s work prior to departure from office.
  • Perform occasional research from Government entities for items such as plats, and deed research.
  • Interprets project data.
  • Communicates with on-site client supervisors, property owners and the general public as needed.
  • Neatly prepares thorough and accurate field notes and sketches for all assigned projects and completes administrative tasks for time keeping and project billing.
  • Develops and maintains proficiency in surveying methods and technologies through continuing education and training.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of survey crew.
  • Reads and interprets maps, deeds, and construction documents.
  • Performs complex surveying calculations using coordinate geometry (COGO) software.
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, and aerial photographs to perform Surveys for design projects.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare Surveys performed in the field for final processing by CAD Techs.
  • Responsible for tasks as defined in the quality manual.
  • Performs Quality Control on all surveys completed under his license and sometimes for other surveys as well.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

PAY:
$45,500.00 – $95,000.00 per year
