The American Airlines (AA) Maintenance Base in Tulsa, OK is AA’s largest Maintenance Base facility. As such, it is an important part of operating the airline’s fleet of nearly 1,000 aircraft. The existing apron in the southwest portion of the facility was deteriorating and in need of replacement, as AA is expanding its fleet to larger aircraft. MAC was tasked with designing and overseeing construction of approximately 113,000 SY of airfield pavement replacement, as well as, enhancing lighting and network connectivity and replacement of the outdated blast deflector. The project also consists of improvements to the storm sewer system, underdrain, and duct banks for future communication and power routing at the Maintenance Base. Construction began in September 2022 and is expected to be complete by December 2023.
